The Healthcare Professional Registry (HPR) is a comprehensive database of registered and verified practitioners offering both modern and traditional healthcare services across India.

As a crucial component of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), HPR empowers healthcare professionals to join India’s digital health ecosystem and connects patients with verified providers. Every healthcare practitioner listed on the HPR is certified and authorised to practice medicine in India, ensuring public safety and trust.

By registering with HPR, healthcare professionals gain access to a range of digital tools and services. These tools can help streamline their work, improve patient care, and comply with global healthcare standards. The HPR aims to create a patient-centric platform where individuals can easily find and connect with verified healthcare providers.

This article will cover the step-by-step process of generating a health professional ID through which practitioners can register in a healthcare professional registry.

Health Professional IDs

After registering with the ABDM health professional registry, practitioners receive a unique digital ID known as Health Professional IDs. With this 14-digit identifier, practitioners are provided access to the medical records, making it easier to manage and share health information efficiently and effectively. These records are stored securely in a database and can be accessed effortlessly by the practitioner.

The data you enter while registering yourself in HPR can be shared and accessed across various healthcare systems and among different stakeholders digitally. Before issuing you the healthcare professional ID, the entered information is verified by the concerned Board and digitising everything about the doctor is under ABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission).

Who is Eligible to Register in the Healthcare Professional Registry?

Any healthcare professional practicing in India, regardless of their medical system (allopathic, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, or homeopathy),  is eligible to register on the HPR. This includes doctors, nurses, dentists, and paramedics.

To register on the HPR, healthcare professionals must have valid registration with their respective regulatory bodies and adhere to ethical guidelines.
