Recently, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has been launched for senior citizens, irrespective of their income status, under the flagship initiative Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). This insurance scheme will cover individuals aged 70 years or older. This article will holistically cover the steps to avail the benefits of PMJAY for senior citizen.
To avail the benefits of PM-JAY, senior citizens must first ensure they are 70 years or older and have an Aadhaar card. They can then apply online through the official PM-JAY website or contact their nearest government health facility. After submitting necessary documents and verifying their identity, approved senior citizens will receive a PM-JAY card, which can be used at empanelled hospitals. Let’s look at each of them in detail.
Steps to Enroll in PMJAY for Senior Citizen
Step 1: Login to the beneficiary portal using the link https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in/.
Step 2: Enter Captcha and mobile number. This will generate an OTP to the entered mobile number.
Step 3: Enter the OTP and click Login.

Step 4: After the successful login, you will be directed to a page where, in the banner, click on the button “Click Here to Enroll.”

Step 5: Enter the Aadhar number and captcha. Click the Search button.

Step 6: In case of no record found linked to your Aadhar number, click on ‘Click Here’ for the fresh enrolment.

Step 7: Choose the option for e-KYC from the options provided as Aadhar OTP, finger print, or IRIS scan.

Step 8: Fill in the details and click verify. This will direct you to the consent page. Tick the checkbox and click Allow.

Step 9: Enter the OTPs generated on the mobile number linked to your Aadhar card and the number using which you have logged into the beneficiary portal.

Step 10: This step completes the e-KYC process. Choose from the options if you are the beneficiary of any provided scheme. Otherwise, choose ‘None of the above.’ Click Proceed.

Step 11: In e-KYC detail, capture the photo of the beneficiary. If a pop-up appears to use your camera, click on Allow this time.

Step 12: Capture the photo and click Proceed.

Step 13: Fill in the additional information or corresponding address.

Step 14: Enter the family member details, including those that are not 70 years of age or older. Tick the check box and click submit.

Step 15: The e-KYC process is completed. You can download the Ayushman card in 15-20 minutes.

Step 16: To download the PMJAY card, login with your Aadhar number. If the application is approved, you can download your PMJAY card using the download icon.
